Ingredients of Pea Soup

  1. You need 1 lb of Dried Split Peas.
  2. Prepare 2 of quartz water.
  3. You need 1.5 lb of ham steak; diced.
  4. You need 1/2 tsp of salt.
  5. It’s 1/4 tsp of black pepper.
  6. Prepare 1 Package (2 links) of Eckrich skinless smoked sausage; halved & chopped.
  7. You need 2 Stalks of Celery; peeled & chopped.
  8. You need 3 of Carrots; peeled & chopped.
  9. It’s 1/2 bag of golden baby potatoes; quartered.
  10. It’s 2 of yellow onions; diced.

Pea Soup instructions

  1. In a large dutch oven add peas and 2qts water.
  2. Simmer for 2 min, turn off heat, cover and let soak for 1 hour (or soak peas overnight).
  3. Add ham, onion, salt and pepper.
  4. Cover, bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce to a simmer and simmer covered, gently, for 90 minutes; stir often.
  6. Add sausage, celery, carrots, and potatoes.
  7. Cover and simmer gently for 30 min, or until potatoes are tender; stir often.
